Rejection slip

12 Jul

Dear Raman,

Thank you for sending us your manuscript for consideration.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to publish it as it does not suit our publishing programme at the moment.

We wish you success in finding another publisher for your manuscript.

All best,

The Editorial Team

P.S: They seem to have a format for this, the font for the last line was different from first two lines. And apparently same copywriter has written this e-mail for all publishers, got another one with exactly same words from another one.

And it feels pretty good to get one, you almost feel like an author 🙂

want a different reply – try writing something like chetan bhagat. inane, stupid and meaningless.

or better still become a regular at the page 3 circuit for a year. and then publishing your work. after that it really doesn’t matter what you write. you will get published. you will also sell. (especially if you manage to get reports of your torrid affair with a starlet. doesn’t have to be true, only reported in the dailies.)

another idea would be to go on a hunger strike in front of one of the publishing houses. it seems to work nowadays.

hahaha…i like the Chetan Bhagat one……but when i said the same, someone found it so offensive, rude and thought i am a yokel trying to make fun 🙂

@John Doe: Chetan Bhagat is read by millions.

@ Editor: If I could write like that, I would have. I am willing to pander my writing to earn millions, any day. I don’t think of myself as an NGO writer. If I have a desire to be published, it equals that I want readership.
