cud u plz offer a paraphrase of the bulle shah couplet? cant understand much.. and yes, esp. in the field of science, women have never recieved as much acclaim as in the skin-show parade dominated fashion world or show biz. but to be honest, and at the risk of earning the wrath of women’s lib tribe, some inequality is respectful to the basic difference tht nature maintained b/w men and women..

if men rule the world of random thoughts and absolute achievements, many a research stats support tht women have far more active emotional input and output levels than men and consequently they can deal with setbacks in much more positive fashions than males.. and so on and so forth. in a sense, i feel the so called ‘inequal’ status is an intentional gimmick of whtever called God to keep the competition healthy and interesting…

Baba Bulle Shah couplet is actually a tenuous connection to the point being made.

But the reason it is there for a simple point, there is no point under the false assumption of considering yourselves saints (a lot of women consider themselves martyrs, since they feel they do bulk of the work). So rather than spending on all your energies on one aspect, expand your scope and create a visible difference

P.S: Here lets not get into child upbringing etc).

Translation to the best of my ability –

Rati jage kare ibadat (you stay up all night and pray)

rati jagan kute (even dogs stay up in the night)

tethon ute (dogs have an upper hand over you)

Phokan band te mool na hunde (can’t find the right words, I’ll update this later)

Jah rori te sute (went and slept on the stones)

Tethon ute (dogs have an upper hand over you)

Kasam apne da darr na chhad de (they do not leave their master)

Bhave bajan jute (even if you beat them)

Tethon ute (dogs have an upper hand over you)

Bulleh Shah koi rakh vihaj leh (Bulle Shah, try to do something useful)

nahi te baazi leh gai kute (else the game will go to the dogs)

tethon ute (dogs have an upper hand)

You wake and keep praying throughout night
Dogs also keep praying throughout night
    They are superior to you

    They do not stop barking
and ultimately sleep on a dirty pile of waste
    They are superior to you

They do not leave their master’s door even
if they are beaten by shoes.

Bulleh Shah! perform good deeds otherwise dogs will supersde you.
    They are superior to you.
